ASUS N53SV-XV1 15.6-Inch Versatile Entertainment Laptop (Silver Aluminum) I have only had this laptop for the week, so my impression is obviously limited to its immediate usability. I will give a couple of pros & cons first & at the end quickly describe my upgrades. This is a desktop alternative to me so I can’ t compare it in order to other laptops.
PROS
Looks good. Sounds OK. Good screen – I have no problems with glossiness. Keyboard is fine for me – layout takes some used to. Flex isn’ t an issue for me, & as others have pointed out you can switch it out easily. It was fast out of your box – a fityfive second boot time. See below to see getting that down to 20 just a few seconds. Wireless seems stable & consistently fast to everyone. Bloatware is manageable, & if you want you could have a fresh install of your legitimate copy of Microsoft windows – see below. I like the touchpad, too, though I turned off zoom mainly because it was too easy to activate rather than scrolling.
CONS
Sonic Master software makes the speakers sound even worse IMO. Turn it off if the speakers are rumbling & buzzing with bass – it ought to be accessible from the program tray. I have found the lid scratches easily – not sure if that is a common problem with laptops broadly – that is a desktop replacement for everyone. I can say it’ s a little big & heavy, but you can examine that here. This is a laptop computer for real men, not sissy Mac kinds. Just joking.
UPGRADES
You can use Essential to find good prices & guaranteed compatibility with this particular laptop – just head over to their site – acquire matching pairs & just forget the 1 4 GB stick on there. I have 8 GB connected with RAM now. I purchased a 128 GB M4 Strong State Drive (SSD) from Crucial likewise to replace the original. The drive & ram are both easily accessible – search youtube for Asus N53 hard disk drive replacement – good videos. After these installations My partner and i reinstalled a Windows 7 House Premium I downloaded from your net. During installation simply enter your Windows product key from your bottom of your laptop computer. After a phone activation your os is fully legitimate. You will need drivers from Asus when this occurs – you can get them online. Search for Asus bloatware coming from google to see a list of utilities & drivers to see which are essential or useful. After these upgrades & Windows reinstall the shoe time is 20 just a few seconds from powered off until finally I see my pc. The SSD allows raging fast usability – strongly recommended for old or brand-new laptops. Lastly, I purchased an Optical These kinds of Drive Caddy from newmodeus specific for the N53 series. This allowed me to remove the DVD-ROM & install the original 500 GB hard disk drive in the optical bay. This required popping from the keyboard (has latches at the summit) & taking out one attach below the keyboard of which secures the optical generate. Was not super difficult to do but you probably require experience with installing computer drives to feel comfortable with this particular. Now I have a new blazing fast 128 GB SSD for the operating system, programs, & large commonly used records & 500 GB for more general storage – most internal. Sweet.
Out of the box this is just like the premium (i7 proc, 4 GB RAM) 15" MacBook Pro. For the price with the worst 13" MacBook Pro you can upgrade it to blow all Macs out of your water – not to note the other PCs. I love making our Mac fanboy friends be sad.
I will receive updates within this review if anyone needs pointed from the right directions for doing these upgrades – I stumbled upon most resources I necessary online. Read more
